Autumn is one of my favourite seasons in London, especially after a disappointing summer. Bright blue skies, an energising chill in the air, vibrant colours and falling leaves are symbols of the season we cling to in desperate denial that winter come next This week’s photo was taken in Richmond Park, London.
Autumn is my favourite season in the UK as the parks explode with colour and the shorter days are offset with energising blue skies and crisp air. As the seasons change, so does the behaviour of the deer who make Richmond, Greenwich or Bushy Park their homes in London. The deer rutting season is a good old fashioned macho exhibition as the male deers literally […]
As I continue the countdown towards my dream trip to Antarctica later in the year (71 days to go!) and start practising with my new 100-400mm lens, my mind has been floating back to the amazing wildlife I’ve seen in other parts of the world. I came across these Greenland Huskies by accident in Iceland, […]
This is the third week in a row I’ve featured a photo from my recent trip to Scotland, but I just can’t get enough of the diversity the incredible landscape provides. And I’m even cheating a little this week with more than one photo. I developed a slight obsession with haystacks as they distracted me […]
This week’s photo comes from my PHOTO STORY: A Sunrise in Myanmar post, taken from a wooden boat on Inle Lake. Floating through the mist, surrounded by breath taking scenery, passing by local fishermen with their unique and iconic fishing technique feels like a form of meditation. For more photos from the travel […]
What has inspired me to select one of my favourite images taken on a trip to the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia earlier this year? Malaysia has been on my mind lately as I miss some close friends who recently left London for a new adventure in KL. I am also looking forward to getting back into the great […]
This week’s photo is a tribute to the inspirational paralympians who are following their dreams this week in London. This photo also serves as a reminder that you don’t always have to leave home to ‘travel’ and it’s ok to be a tourist in your own country!
125 days from now and a dream will become reality when I board the Ocean Diamond and set sail for Antarctica! Ok, not quite the expedition it was a hundred years ago, but still the most remote place I will have visited and one that has me giddy with excitement. In the meantime, this photo […]
A local artist finds some space away from the crowds of Old Town to paint one of the best know landmarks of Tallinn in Estonia
I recently came across the #frifoto hashtag on Twitter and this week’s topic for photo sharing was BRANDS. I immediately remembered taking this photo during a teeth cleaning lesson in a village near Siem Reap. CAMBODIA meets COLGATE!
Archery is the national sport of the tiny kingdom of Bhutan so it’s no surprise that they sent an archer to the London Olympics last week – although the local sport has a few differences. I guess the surprise was that their Olympic team of 2 people included a shooter as well!
What I love most about this photo is that it could have been taken anywhere in the world (I actually took in a few weekends ago at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco). What is it about bubbles that evokes the same reaction in children and adults alike?
DESTINATION UNKNOWN became DESTINATION SAN FRANCISCO a couple of weekends ago, as I took a break from a LA based work trip to meet two friends for a long weekend in a city I first visited more than a decade ago. I enjoyed it just as much, if not more, the second time round. San […]
This week I came a step closer to fulfilling one of my biggest travel dreams, when I booked an expedition cruise to Antarticta. In keeping with the theme of “ice, ice, baby” this week’s photo is one I recently took at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Icelend.
The trail left at a Cambodian classroom door…a common scene in South East Asia
I’ve seen some incredible sunsets all over the world but I still think my home country Australia takes the top prize. This one taken at Henley Beach in Adelaide on a return home for Xmas last year.
This image of a child in Phnom Krom, Cambodia reminds me of the precious innocence that children are born with, and how important it is to protect and educate them.
After exploring landscape photography over the past month, it’s nice to reflect on one of my favourite photography subjects, “PEOPLE”, with an image taking at a Buddhist Blessing near Siem Reap.
Whatever your view of the institution of the monarchy is, it’s all about London this weekend and PHOTO OF THE WEEK’s tribute to the Queen’s Jubilee captures tourists crowding for that perfect shot during Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
