Photos & Quiz: World Penguin Day

Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t love penguins?  Me either!

April 25 is World Penguin Day, so let’s celebrate these cute little creatures.

What is your penguin personality?  Take this quiz over at The Pew Charitable Trust to find out!  By the way – apparently I am a Chinstrap!

Here at Destination Unknown, I’m celebrating with some of my favourite penguin portraits from my recent Antarctica adventures.

  1. Hi, Kellie,
Thanks for posting the Penguin Personality Quiz. Since we were on the same trip as you, only two weeks earlier, I especially enjoyed the quiz. Even though we observed and photographed so many penguins in so many different locations, I really had difficulty trying to figure out which penguin species each question might apply to. But it was great fun and helped bring back some of the joy we felt in being in the presence of these wonderful animals.

By the way, I’m a Rockhopper Penguin apparently. My wife has yet to take the quiz, but I’m guessing Chinstrap or Gentoo for her (although I don’t think she would be stealing rocks from another nest to use in her nest!).

Keep up the great blog! It’s very enjoyable in re-living the places we’ve both traveled to, as well as being inspired by the many places and experiences you’ve enjoyed that we might aspire to.

    • HI Charles (or should I say Mr Rockhopper), thanks for your comments! It’s great re-living Antarctica with other travellers who have been there, the amazing feeling it creates never goes away. I dream every day of winning the lottery so I can return!

  2. I’m laughing thinking about anyone not like penguins. Not possible!

    You are an Adélie penguin!

Short and stout, the Adélie is playful, but not cuddly! While you are sociable and often mingle with friends, you are not afraid to fight when riled. You don’t let social norms hold you back and have a bit of a wild side. However, you are a devoted parent and look out for your loved ones.
